Arctic Sun VR Racing Sim FAQs

Do I need to know how to drive a manual transmission?
No, we have options for beginners, with automatic shifting, and experts. Our racing sims come loaded with realistic stick shifters and pedal sets providing a realistic experience for those of you who want to put your driving to the test, but are still accessible for people looking to try a stick shift in a safe environment.

Do I need to know how to drive?
You do not need to know how to drive, while time behind the wheel may help you get into the groove of things faster, this is a video game and is accessible to everyone. We do have a recommended age limit of 10 and those who do not know how to drive will want to take it slow and listen to their virtual bay attendant for the best tips and tricks to stay in the race.

Can I play without the VR?
Yes, we actually recommended playing outside of VR if you get motion sickness easily or are not accustomed to VR yet. That being said, utilizing the VR is far more immersive and enjoyable!

What makes this different from a regular racing game?
Our racing simulators are just that, immersive simulations meant to replicate the experience of driving a race car. This isn't your average arcade racing game, it is a realistic racing and driving experience down to the tiniest detail of grip and balance of the vehicle.

What kind of car can I drive?
We have a wide assortment of iconic cars from throughout history, here are a few of our favorites: Nissan skyline R34 and 35, Ken blocks Hoonigan Ford focus RX, Audi R 8, Ford Fastback, and BMW M3. Please check out some of our car highlights on the racing sim page.

How old do I have to be?
We recommend that players be at least 10 years old, as the driving simulators can be too complex for younger individuals, but we still have plenty of options for them during your visit!

How does this compare to real driving?
Our software Project Cars Pro was used to realistically model and showcase Porsche’s new Cayman 911 in 2018, to show journalists and potential buyers before the car was ready to hit the road. In addition the game is built in such a way that things like tire pressure, road texture, grip, horsepower, and weight distribution, play into how the car handles and how it reacts to the drivers skill.

Can I drift?
In short yes, some cars are better at drifting than others, harder difficulties lend to better drifts with less traction control and steering assist as well as far more spinouts. We recommend saving this skill for the last in your driving career here at ASVR, but our staff is more than happy to help you slide into drifting once you have mastered the easier difficulties.

How hard is it?
It can be as easy or as difficult as you want, difficulty level plays a large part in how well you will drive, but car and track selection can also play a role, Ask your bay attendant for the best tips to stay on track with your goals.

Can I race my friends?
Yes! Multiplayer is available in arcade for all four of our racing simulators in fact this is one of the best ways to play.

Is it a game or a simulation?
This is a simulation. We built our simulators around creating a realistic driving experience, we added a rumble pack, gear driven steering wheel, and chose the best commercial race software to provide realistic feedback and the realest most immersive experience we could.
